Dr. Eng. Fouad Bendimerad (PhD, Stanford)

Dr. Bendimerad has served as consultant and advisor on risk management to several international organizations and corporations, including the World Bank, and United Nations organizations, as well as governments and corporations worldwide. He also served as Principal Scientist to RMS, a California Corporation and leader in the development of risk assessment models for the global insurance and reinsurance industry. Further, he is a former faculty of the School of Engineering at Stanford University and in charge of the university’s seismic reduction program, which recently received the ATC-ENR award for being one of the ten top seismic projects in the country. Dr. Bendimerad earned his masters and doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering from the same university, and has written numerous articles and papers on disaster risk assessment and management.

As Senior Scientist, he leads the Resilience Innovation Lab at EMI whose main work is to develop cutting edge applications to support megacities and fast growing metropolises in the developing world with the tools to build urban resilience. He was formerly EMI’s Associate Technical Director who contributed to its tremendous growth from a start-up organization that works in urban risk reduction to a major global contributor in urban resilience.

Jom currently heads the Urban Resilience Management Applications (URMA) Department. Since joining EMI in 2009, he has been involved in the management and coordination of several key projects focusing on different DRM areas, such as;

  • Design and implementation of emergency operations centers;
  • Development of integrated emergency management systems;
  • Risk-sensitive urban development;
  • Investment planning for disaster risk management;
  • Assessment of disaster resilience of health facilities;
  • Assessment of local government capacity for health emergency management;
  • Assessment of local government capacity for disaster preparedness and response;
  • Advocacy and strategic communications for disaster risk reduction.

Prior to working in EMI,  he worked for several environmental organizations such as WWF, Conservation International and the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources on issues related to marine biodiversity conservation.

Ms. Bernadette C. Dimmog (BS Geography, UP-Diliman)

Bernadette has been working in the field of Geographic Information System since 2008 up to present. She has the experience with working with private companies like Synnex-Concentrix as ESRI Technical Support for ArcGIS products and Sn-Aboitiz Power as GIS Specialist for their Green Development Project in developing new hydropower plants in the country.  She also worked  with  government agencies like DOST- DREAM Project and DOST Project NOAH as Research Associate and GIS Specialist and Local Government unit of Tabuk Kalinga as the GIS Coordinator in Creating the Urban Master Plan of Tabuk City”.

In EMI she is one of the GIS Specialist and mostly working with PDRF in developing the Geographic Information System database for the Emergency Operation Center.

Peter is currently part of EMI’s project to build the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation’s Emergency Operations Center (PDRF-EOC). The project has carried out training seminars on EMOPS, where he has acted as co-trainer; providing foundational training for participants on EMOPS. He has facilitated on the Oscar M Lopez center’s project with EMI, titled Mainstreaming DRR into Land Use Planning for a Climate-Resilient Quezon City (2015), which consisted of mentoring workshops on the use of GIS for mainstreaming DRR for planning for participating departments of the Quezon City Government.

Mr. Harry S. Pasimio Jr.  (Masters of Urban and Regional Planning , UP-Diliman, AB Development Studies, Ateneo De Manila University)

Harry is EMI’s Urban Resilience Specialist. He has more than 15 years of experience conducting policy research and critical analysis on various development issues, having worked for a number of government think tanks since 2001. A land use planner, Harry is currently leading EMI’s efforts aimed at mainstreaming risk-sensitive land use planning at the city/municipal level.

Karen is currently a research intern for EMI. She serves as a research assistant for the project National Disaster Risk Management Program (NDRMP), which offers an educational model for practitioners who are looking into improving their skills in disaster risk management (DRM)

She graduated  BA Political Science in the University of the Philippines-Diliman and is a member of the UP Political Society.

Zeny has wide experience in handling administrative matters. Her skills were honed through various stints in international organizations such as USAID, the World Bank and GTZ.

Jenie is a certified public accountant and has more than eight years experience in international NGOs. Before joining EMI, she has worked for the Knowledge Channel Foundation, a non stock, non- profit organization with primary objective to educate and empower poor and marginalized children through media in the Philippines, Oxfam Great Britain (now Oxfam in the Philippines), and Winrock International – Amore (Alliance for Mindanao Off-Grid Renewable Energy a USAID Project).

Angel currently works as an Operations Assistant for EMI.   Before joining EMI, he worked as a Management Information System Staff for Reliance Surety and Insurance Company Inc. Angel obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Adamson University.
