The Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI), through the Institute of Urban Resilience (IUR), proudly announces its new program, the EMI Webinar Series. Webinars, short for web-based seminars, are online workshop/seminars that allow for real-time conferencing with participants based in different locations.
Every year, EMI brings fresh and relevant disaster risk management (DRM) topics to a variety of audiences. The webinars target DRM practitioners, professionals, researchers, educators, community leaders, and planners from both the private and public sectors. Participants will get the chance to directly converse with renowned DRR subject matter experts (SMEs) around the globe, sharing their thoughts and asking questions.
EMI has an established reputation in building DRM competency globally through the Natural Disaster Risk Management Program (NDRMP), a Global Distance Learning Program that EMI has been offering since 2006. With the launch of the Webinar Series, EMI will be able to reach more audiences interested in DRM. This newfound thrust is in line with its vision of advancing, sharing, and disseminating knowledge on urban disaster risk reduction as an advocate of the UNISDR’s Making Cities Resilient Campaign.
