Integrating DRR-CCA Assessments into the Comprehensive Land Use Plan

On December 11, 2015, EMI conducted the third training session on “Integrating DRR-CCA Assessment into the Comprehensive Land Use Plan” at the new DRRMO Building in the Quezon City Hall complex. This third gathering was attended by members of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Technical Working Group (QC DRRM TWG) under the “Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction into Land Use Planning: Developing the Competencies, Tools, and a Community of Practice Project” that is being implemented by EMI in cooperation with the Quezon City government and with funding assistance from the Oscar M. Lopez Center for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Foundation Inc. (OMLC).

The third session started off with a recap of the previous workshop “Hotspots and Land Use Planning” that was conducted last November. After the brief summary, Mr. Harry S. Pasimio, Jr., Project Manager for EMI proceeded with the lecture on integrating DRR-CCA assessments into the CLUP process based on the Supplemental Guidelines HLURB released earlier this year. During the group exercise, participants were asked to review the Vision indicated in the draft QC CLUP 2016-2025, identify potential DRR-CCA impacts on the five growth areas identified in the draft CLUP, and propose policy interventions in the form of zoning ordinance provisions that should address the projected impacts. The next training lecture will be held at the end of January 2016.
