EMI presented insights on the Metro Manila Earthquake Impact Reduction Study (MMEIRS) on Tuesday, July 3, to the emergency planners and managers of Barangay Aguho in the Municipality of Pateros, Metro Manila. This is for the “Para Paaralan para sa Kahandaan West Valley Workshop (3PK West Valley)”, under the collaboration of the Municipality of Pateros, the Yes Pinoy Foundation, and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Among the topics discussed by the EMI resource speaker were Building Damage, Liquefaction Hazard, Ground Rupture, and Fire Following earthquake, based on the MMEIRS’ Model 8 scenario. EMI contributed to the barangay's BDRRM Plan by discussing the scientific grounding of an earthquake worst case scenario. In addition, EMI also shared experiences and observed practices with other partner cities, including Pasig, Makati, Marikina, Kathmandu and Mumbai.
The 3PK workshop is customized to the dominant hazards and DRR needs of communities located near or along the West Valley Fault and/or were inundated by the floods unleashed by Ondoy.
