Three (3) EMI representatives participated in a one-day forum on rebuilding communities and ecosystems after Yolanda last January 23, 2014 at AIM Conference Center, Makati City.
The aim of the government is to build back better and safer hospitals. This was endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Philippines as the objective for rebuilding. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) estimated the reconstruction needs of these health facilities at PhP6,887.4 million and set 2014 as the year to restore the health services (NEDA, 2013).
On January 28, 2014, EMI confirmed their membership renewal to the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN ISDR) Steering Committee of the UN ISDR “Making Cities Resilient” Campaign for another two years.
EMI, in partnership with the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), is scheduled to deliver the Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) course on February 24.
EMI will be delivering the first online course on Risk-Sensitive Land Use Planning (RSLUP) on January 27 to February 26.
EMI celebrates 10 years of building urban resilience
As part of the conclusion of the Building a Disaster Resilient Quezon City Project, the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan 2014-2020 (QC DRRMP) was formally submitted by EMI to the Quezon City Government (QCG) during the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Meeting held last 21 October 2013 at the City Hall.
EMI is scheduled to deliver the fourth run of CDRMF on October 28 to December 6. Registration is on-going until October 25.
